This is a grant funded position that will provide Experiential Coordination for the North Bay Community Health Worker Training Program (NB-CHWTP) to address community needs in north bay counties to access healthcare and improve health outcomes. The NB-CHWTP is a collective impact model designed to train CHWs to close the gap in primary care access in underserved communities in counties North of San Francisco. Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Solano, Sonoma, and Yolo Counties are some of the most racially and ethnically diverse counties in the United States. The NB-CHWTP will provide expanded training opportunities for entry level CHWs, extend the impact of CHWs by providing advanced training, and develop experiential and employment support for CHWs. Using a consortium approach of partners that include Redwood Community Health Coalition, Northern California Center for Well Being, and Touro University California will implement the following three goals: - Goal 1: EXPANSION OF CHW TRAINING – Increase the number of CHWs trained from diverse communities to create convenient access points to public health and healthcare to reduce health inequities. - Goal 2: EXTENSION OF CHW IMPACT – Implement advanced training for current CHWs to address gaps in public health and community needs and improve community wellness and health outcomes. - Goal 3: EMPLOYMENT & EXPERIENTIAL OPPORTUNITIES – Develop a network of partners who will provide CHW trainees with experiential training (shadowing, internships, and apprenticeships) and employment opportunities. The experiential coordinator is responsible for supporting and providing leadership in the day-to-day activities and operations related to the employment and experiential components to implement the NB-CHWTP. Flexibility, curiosity, and initiative are essential traits for a successful candidate. This position will be physically located at the TUC campus in Vallejo, CA, with the flexibility to work remotely some days. The Public Health Program teaches five core disciplines of public health: Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Environmental Health Science, Health Policy and Management, and Social and Behavioral Sciences. Also, students gain depth through coursework in a chosen specialized public health concentration in either Community Action for Health or Global Health and Health Equity and Criminal Justice. Students complete their Culminating Experience through a field study internship integrating core sills and knowledge acquired through the Program’s didactic phase in a public health setting with one of our many well-established collaborative partnerships. Partnerships include local departments of health, community organizations and non-governmental organizations engaged in public health activities or international institutions in Bolivia, Cambodia, and Ethiopia. Lastly, students complete the Capstone Course choosing an applied project which consists of a formal written manuscript and public presentation; or a comprehensive exam demonstrating their mastery and ability to integrate and apply core public health principles to issues that may confront public health professionals.   This Teaching Assistant (TA) position will be entirely virtual for the opening of the Epidemiology course. The TA will need to be available to offer homework review sessions and office hours on PST time zone.   Pay: $16/hr - $25/hr depending on experience
