Security Officers are responsible for observing and reporting safety and security hazards affecting the personnel and property of the University; and to assist in enforcing University Safety and Security rules and regulations. The Security officer interacts with a variety of persons including; faculty; staff; students; contractors; vendors; visitors; public safety officials; and the general public.
· High School Diploma or G.E.D required. · Prior law enforcement, military, or security experience preferred. · Valid California driver’s license · Basic computer skills · Excellent knowledge of security protocols · Ability to operate security systems and emergency equipment · Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs. · Must have sufficient hearing to respond to normal verbal speech, alarms, radio and telephone communications · Must have sufficient visual acuity to read and understand faculty/staff listings, posted orders, maps, computer screens, check identification, and to distinguish the faces of faculty/staff, contractors, vendors, guests and visitors · Must be able to stand, walk and/or drive for up to 90% of the assigned shift · Must have a command of the English language that is easily understood · Must be able to respond quickly to incidents and emergencies (“Rapid Response”). Rapid Response may include, but is not limited to, running, squatting, crouching, kneeling, climbing, standing for long periods of time, and operating Touro vehicles |
