Overview

The Chair is an administrative appointment with responsibilities that are in addition to those of a faculty member in the given department of clinical sciences. The Chair reports to the Dean, is a member of the Management Team, and serves as one of the primary representatives of the College of Pharmacy. The Chair has shared responsibility for developing and following the strategic plan that supports the mission, goals and objectives of the University and College. The Chair is responsible for working effectively and collegially with the other members of the management team and to represent their department.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the department of clinical sciences
  • Develop and implement the department mission, vision, goals and objectives
  • Facilitate department contributions needed to meet accreditation standards
  • Coordinate and/ or mentor the development of each faculty within the department in the areas of teaching, research/scholarship, and service
  • Oversee and ensure appropriate workload distribution among faculty
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and goal setting for faculty and other personnel affiliated with the department
  • Recruit and retain highly qualified faculty and personnel
  • Support curricular and programmatic initiatives (e.g. interprofessional education)
  • Conduct regular department faculty meetings
  • Serve as a conduit for information between the department and management team
  • Support the policies and procedures of the College and University
  • Perform other activities and services as assigned by the Dean

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Faculty within the department
  • Personnel supporting the department (e.g. staff, adjuncts)

Qualifications

  • The Department Chair must possess a doctoral degree in pharmacy and/or related academic discipline
  • The Chair must have a strong commitment to the professional development of pharmacy students and the advancement of the pharmacy profession
  • The Chair should have a record of excellence in teaching, research, and service and have reached the academic rank of Associate Professor or Professor
  • Experience with the Doctor of Pharmacy program with a clinical pharmacy is preferred

Maximum Salary

USD $153,399.00/Yr.

Minimum Salary

USD $122,719.00/Yr.
