The Communication Specialist is a part-time position supporting the Associate Dean of Enrollment Management and the broader Student Affairs division. This role assists in the development and executes communication plans that support Recruitment, the Registrar, Bursar, Financial Aid, and other Student Affairs functional areas. The Communication Specialist maintains communication assets across CRM and email marketing platforms, contributes to special projects such as catalog development and review, and collaborates closely with the Marketing team to ensure Student Affairs communications are timely, accurate, and consistent with institutional branding.
• Develop, implement, and maintain communication plans and content calendars in support of Recruitment, Registrar, Bursar, Financial Aid, and other Student Affairs-related communication needs.
• Create, update, and maintain communication assets (email templates, campaigns, and content) within CRM and email marketing platforms, including Constant Contact and Touro's T1C platform (Anthology Reach).
• Participate in special projects as assigned, including catalog development and review based on Student Affairs and institutional needs.
• Utilize third-party design and content tools such as Stripo and Canva, including built-in AI features or third-party AI platforms, to draft, design, and refine communication content and marketing materials.
• Collaborate with the Marketing team in a weekly working session to align on messaging, branding, follow approval processes, and adhere to timelines for Student Affairs-related projects.
• Use third party platform, Smartsheet, to build and manage project workflows, track project development and timelines, and support document routing and e-signature processes.
• Proofread, edit, and quality-check outgoing communications for accuracy, tone, and adherence to institutional brand and style guidelines.
• Monitor and report on communication project status, deliverables, and deadlines to the Associate Dean of Enrollment Management.
• Assist with data segmentation and audience targeting within CRM platforms to support effective, personalized communication.
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management communication goals.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred or a year of previous relevant work-related duties.
• Intermediate level mastery of Microsoft Office suite, specifically Word, Excel, and Teams.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Ability to establish goals, prioritize duties and make decisions based on programmatic and institutional policies.
• Flexibility and willingness to learn new systems.
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Preferred familiarity with a student information system (Banner or similar product).
• Preferred experience with CRM and/or email marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact, Anthology Reach, or similar higher education CRM/communication tools).
• Preferred familiarity with design and content creation tools such as Canva and/or Stripo, including AI-assisted content features.
• Preferred experience using Smartsheet or comparable project/workflow management software.
• Preferred prior experience in higher education, Student Affairs, Enrollment Management, or a related administrative environment.
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills for effective cross-functional teamwork with Marketing and Student Affairs colleagues.
