Overview

Touro University California is dedicated to educating caring professionals to serve, to lead and to teach. The Diabetology Fellowship is a one-year fellowship training which aims to train primary care physicians in the management of all aspects of diabetes mellitus. Fellows will integrate evidence-based practice, research in the field of diabetes, clinical experience and community outreach to deliver quality care for patients with diabetes and in prevention of future complications. This includes treatment of patients with Type 1 diabetes, Type 2 diabetes, atypical diabetes and gestational diabetes. After successful completion of training program, Fellows will become proficient in diabetes technology and management of diabetes across the spectrum.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient-centered clinical care at adult Solano County Federally Qualified Health Centers, Communicare Ole and La Clinica health centers in Solano County. • Participate in community events and screenings through the mobile diabetes education center aka MOBEC.

• Critically review diabetes literature and participate in scholarly diabetes activities including presentations at weekly didactics sessions.

• Lead groups as a facilitator during diabetes week.

• Work collaboratively in a team-based setting with pharmacists, physician assistants, diabetes educators, dietitians, nurses, and students from all Touro colleges;

• Provide feedback for continued growth and improvement of the fellowship program.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an ACGME accredited residency training program in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine in the United States.

• Completed COMLEX or USMLE steps and board certified or board eligible in their respective board.

• Licensed by medical board of California.

• Possesses U.S. Citizenship or Green Card. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: A diabetology fellow should have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the following:

• Performs all responsibilities within the values of professional framework.

• Obtains/maintains appropriate license and certifications.

• Possesses effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Develops and maintains collegial working relations on campus and at practice sites.

• Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis.

• Guarantees confidentiality of all patient and student information.

• Adheres to policies and procedures of Touro University California and Touro College.

Maximum Salary

USD $106,127.00/Yr.
