Overview

The Development Officer at Touro University California plays a crucial role in advancing the university’s mission by supporting fundraising initiatives, managing donor relationships, and fostering alumni engagement. Reporting to the Vice President of University Advancement, this position requires a proactive and organized professional with a passion for philanthropy and collaboration.

Responsibilities

Fundraising and Donor Relations:

  • Cultivate and steward a portfolio of donors and prospects, focusing on gifts of $25,000 and above.
  • Identify and research prospective donors, maintaining a targeted list for major gift solicitation.
  • Collaborate with University Advancement to develop and execute solicitation strategies for individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Prepare compelling proposals, reports, and donor correspondence to secure and sustain funding.
  • At the direction of the VP of University Advancement, train and assist senior leadership in cultivating relationships with donors and prospects.
  • Ensure timely and personalized donor acknowledgments that align with Touro's messaging and values.


Database and Reporting:

  • Manage donor and prospect data in Raiser’s Edge, ensuring accuracy and up-to-date records.
  • Generate reports to analyze giving trends and support strategic decision-making.
  • Track and report on key performance metrics related to fundraising goals.

 

Event Coordination and Engagement:

  • Plan and execute donor-centric events, including galas and dinners, in partnership with the University Advancement.
  • Collaborate with alumni affairs to design programs fostering alumni engagement and support for university initiatives.
  • Serve as a point of contact for event logistics, ensuring a seamless experience for attendees.

Marketing and Communication:

  • Assist in developing fundraising materials, including brochures, newsletters, and digital content, including materials that can be used by senior leadership in soliciting donations.
  • Contribute to the social marketing strategy by implementing philanthropy campaigns and direct mail initiatives.
  • Partner with the Communications team to create presentations and promotional materials for donor outreach.

Administrative Duties:

  • Support budget planning and monitor expenditures related to development activities.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of fundraising strategies and donor engagement processes.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to volunteers and staff participating in advancement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet departmental goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in development, fundraising, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in Raiser’s Edge or similar donor management software.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Touro University California.

 

This is a full-time position based on the Touro University California campus. Occasional travel and evening/weekend work may be required for events and donor meetings.

Maximum Salary

USD $110,000.00/Yr.

Minimum Salary

USD $88,000.00/Yr.
