A faculty member in Foundational Biomedical Sciences (FBS) a tripartite responsibility: teaching for both the Touro University California College of Osteopathic Medicine (TU-COM) Master of Science and Health Science (MSMHS) and COM programs, research expertise in human metabolism and nutrition, and service. Faculty members assume the responsibility of developing, recommending, and executing all approved policies of instruction. The faculty shall consist of individuals who have been appointed to the rank of assistant or associate professor. A faculty member in FB sciences is responsible for the delivery of a portion of the curriculum for which he/she has suitable training and experience.
They are expected to contribute new knowledge to an academic field of endeavor, whether through bench or clinical research or scholarly writings. All these duties require that the faculty member remain current in his/her academic field through participation in professional development activities.
The current opening will give preference to individuals who demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain an externally funded research program that focuses on human metabolism and nutrition. Candidates with experience in gas chromatography, mass spectrometry (GC/MS) and/or liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC-MS) to applied to human metabolism are preferred.
Teaching responsibilities align with developing and delivering content related to human metabolism and nutrition to osteopathic medical students and students in the MSMHS program.

This individual will serve as co-director of the Touro University California Mass Spectrometry Core Laboratory. The laboratory provides stable isotope analytical services to internal and external research groups and consists of (describe size of staff, machines, etc.) |
CORE COMPETENCIES:

Ph.D., D.O., M.D., Pharm D or other suitable degree with a concentration in one or more foundational biomedical sciences.
