Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Information Technology, the Jr. Network Technician’s primary responsibility is maintaining and troubleshooting computer networks, both onsite and remote. This position will support Network Technical Management, audiovisual, events, and special projects.

· Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent and work experience. · Preferred certifications – CompTiaa: Network + and Security+, and CISCO: CCST, CCNA, CCNP · Experience working within academic or related service environments. · A minimum of five years of experience installing, maintaining, and developing strategies for a wide spectrum of information systems, tools, and suppose services is necessary. · Requires strong organizational skills; consensus building; the ability to coordinate multiple tasks concurrently; the ability to effectively manage resources to address competing priorities; the ability to use advanced techniques in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software; and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and interact with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds. · Extensive knowledge and experience in a higher education environment is preferred. · Ability to clearly explain service issues, effectively answer questions, and write content and understandable text · Being able to render technical answers into understandable non-technical terms · Service oriented approach to problems · Excellent problem-solving skills and proven ability to follow through on requests · Hands-on experience with configuration, maintenance, and monitoring switches, routers, network appliances, firewalls, network interfaces, and print sharing devices. · Hands-on experience with Dynamic Host Configuration (DHCP). · Hands-on experience with Directory Name Services (DNS). · Hands-on experience with VLAN Configuration, routing tables, and coordination of preventive maintenance planning. · Hands-on experience with performance monitoring on local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and wireless network (WiFi). · Hands-on experience with AeroHive wireless networks and solving network issues. · Hands-on experience with address & routing protocol assignment, and routing table configuration. · Experience in researching alternatives for procuring new network and telecommunication hardware, software, and services.
