Overview

This is adjunct faculty position. The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching Social Inequities Ineqities in Health, a 3-unit graduate level course for MPH students in the Community Action for Health concentration. The focus of this course is to provide students with an understanding of how a broad array of social determinants, historical factors and societal inequities contribute and define disparities in health and health care in the U.S. We will also examine the ways in which neighborhood and community context, as well as inequalities in socioeconomic status materially shape health and access to health care services. Community and institutional strategies aimed at reducing health disparities will be explored.

 

This is a 16 week hybrid course with in-person and online instruction, offered during the Spring 2024 semester (January 8 – May 3, 2024)

The successful applicant will primarily be responsible for:

• Developing and managing syllabus assignments, instructional materials, and exams relative to learning objectives of the course;

• Facilitating class instruction and Providing weekly office hours; and

• Evaluating student performance through grade entries for assignments, exams, and course completion Candidates must adhere to policies and procedures of Touro University California; and perform all responsibilities within the values and professional framework of the mission and vision of the Public Health Program.

Ideal candidates for this position will possess a minimum of 2-3 years of teaching experience and hold an advanced degree, either a master's or doctoral, with a primary focus on public health or a related field such as social and behavioral sciences, demography, economics, law, health promotion, or education. Essential qualifications include the ability to collaborate effectively within a teaching team, fostering a cooperative and supportive environment. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in utilizing technology as a teaching tool.

 

Compensation is determined by the asssigned workload,experience, and rank. Ranges from $6500-$7500 for a 45 hour /3 unit credit course
